Sunday Recap - Feb. 11th
When the plan is announced to rebuild the wall, the leaders from the surrounding area Sanballat, Tobiah and Gehsem, ridicule their intentions and accuse the Israelites of treasonous behavior. Over the next few weeks, they will make several attempts to stop Nehemiah and the people of Israel from rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.
Anytime you attempt something great for God, you can be absolutely guaranteed that you will experience hardship and opposition.
Key Scriptures: “I replied, “The God of heaven will help us succeed. We, his servants, will start rebuilding this wall. But you have no share, legal right, or historic claim in Jerusalem.” Nehemiah 2:20 (NIV)
Some Sunday takeaways on standing firm:
- Stay faithful to God’s work despite opposition and don’t be afraid to challenge your naysayers.
- Our goal in life is to bring God the glory.
- God uses a willing heart, one that will submit to His work.
- The most important ability in the work of the Lord is availability.
